Help us redefine what it means to grow old at home.

Almost everyone wants to spend their later years in the home they love, surrounded by the things and people that make it theirs. For millions of families, the hardest part isn't choosing care at home. It's finding care they can trust. They tell the same story again and again: the aide who didn't show, a new stranger every week, an office that never calls back.

We started Admiral Home Care to change that story. Our founder spent the past year arranging care for his own mother. He lived every one of those frustrations firsthand, and built Admiral around everything he wished he'd found.

We're a private-pay home care agency built on a simple belief: every older adult deserves care that feels like it comes from people who know them. That means the right caregiver, a small, steady team the family actually knows, and a real person who answers the phone.

We're starting here in North Jersey, with plans to grow into several states in 2027. The standards we set now become the standard everywhere we go. That's where you come in.

As our founding nurse, you won't just follow a model of care. You'll help write it. The care plans, the training our aides receive, the way we show up for families: it starts with you, and it grows with us.

What you'll do

Run the start-of-care visit. Once a family has signed on with us, you're the first person from Admiral in their home. You'll spend about an hour and a half with the client and their family: health history, medications, mobility, memory, daily routines, what a good day looks like for them, and what they're worried about. Then you write the plan of care: which tasks the aide does, how often, and what to watch for. NJ requires that plan before the first shift, so this visit is where every client starts.

Do the home safety walk-through. Same visit, fresh eyes. Loose rugs, dim stairways, a shower with nothing to grab, a pill organizer nobody can read. You'll leave the family a short, practical list of fixes. Yes, you're allowed to judge the rug.

Match and prep the caregiver. Tell our team what kind of aide this client needs, then brief the caregiver on the plan before their first shift. You'll decide which personal-care tasks to delegate, check that the aide can do them safely, and document each one in the client's record.

Make the follow-up visits. Check in with every client at least every 30 days and visit in person at least every 60 days, or sooner after a fall, a hospital stay or a change in condition. Each visit is roughly 45 minutes to an hour: see how the client is doing, watch the aide at work, and update the plan when needs change.

Coach our aides. Run short skills sessions for new caregivers (transfers, safe bathing, dementia communication), answer their questions by phone, and be the clinical judgment behind them when something doesn't look right.

Keep families in the loop. Explain what you're seeing in plain English, flag when it's time to call the doctor, and help adult children plan for what's next. You'll often be the first person who's actually explained it to them.

Chart it. Short, clear notes in our care app after every visit, from your phone, usually before you're back in the car. Future you will be grateful.

Your week, early on: a handful of visits to start, growing as our client list does. You plan your own visit schedule around the 30- and 60-day deadlines.

You'll love this role if…

  • You became a nurse to help people, and you miss having the time to truly do it
  • You'd rather build the right process than inherit a broken one
  • You want real influence: as our founding nurse, you'll shape our clinical standards, training and culture
  • You like working independently in the field, on a schedule you control

Honestly, it's not for you if you want a big-company structure with every process already written. We're building it, and we'd love to build it with you.

What we're looking for

  • Warm, clear communication with older adults, worried families and frontline caregivers
  • Comfortable using a care app on your phone for notes and scheduling
  • Valid driver's license and reliable car for visits across North Jersey
